A Special Home for Those with Alzheimer’s or Dementia
A person with Alzheimer’s or other types of dementia has special needs beyond normal assisted living or long-term care. Our Alzheimer’s care services provide targeted care that has proven successful for patients with this diagnosis. Our dedicated Alzheimer’s care unit also provides family support groups and an environment designed to make individuals feel at home. Through research and experience we have carefully selected the décor, lighting and color schemes to promote independence and freedoms similar to past lifetime experiences. Our caregivers are also members of your community and can further make your loved one comfortable by finding common ties and relationships. All of these benefits have the potential to reduce stress, promote better sleeping patterns and stimulate appetites, while still providing for the special needs of each individual.
Looking for care during the day? Our Adult Day Care Services provide daytime care on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
The caring staff members in this unit are specially trained to deal with the unique challenges of Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia. Through continued educational programs, lectures, role playing and group discussions, our caregivers interact with individuals in an environment that offers success-oriented activities.
Family involvement is essential to caring for our patients with Alzheimer’s or dementia. Our program centers on the uniqueness of the individual and their family. Understanding each individual’s past life and family history assists the staff in providing a sense of belonging. In this unique setting we are also able to offer a family support group which provides continuing education and information to better understand the symptoms and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.
A low-stress, individualized environment
Each Alzheimer’s care unit presents a serene atmosphere where activities can be planned according to each individual’s interests and abilities. Our program strives to enhance each individual’s quality of life, embracing both past and present, to maintain a sense of self-identity. Our staff and volunteers provide intellectual stimulation and encourage self-expression through the acceptance of each individual’s perception of reality. We strive for each day to be full of failure free activities.
